The Juror:  Gail Borowski earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Detroit's College for Creative Studies, where she became fascinated with connecting people to creativity. After acquiring an additional certification from Wayne State University, and earning her Masters of Art in Education from Michigan State University, Gail crafted a delicate balance between teaching, prolific studio creativity, and motherhood.

"I find inspiration in the natural, spiritual, and crafted beauty around me. Within each creation I strive to celebrate color married with theme. I call it a 'passion of reaction'.  I share my inspiration with my 7th through 9th grade students, and with guests of the Detroit Institute of Art's Drop In Workshop Studios, where I teach drawing and fine arts. In turn, my students remind me to stay open to exploration and to never stop being curious."

As an Art educator Gail published articles in "SchoolArts", a professional online and printed publication of Davis Art for Art educators.  She is also published in "Education Closet", an art education online professional platform promoting Science Technology Engineering Art and Math (STEAM) lesson plans and concepts.

Eligibility & Requirements
  • All work must be original, created solely by the artist.  If the work is created from photographs the photographs must have been taken by the artist.
  • Work previously exhibited at Kaleidoscope is not eligible. Work must be created within past two years.
  • Artwork must be in excellent condition Canvases may be framed, wrapped, or have painted sides.

Tips for preparing your art work for online entry:
  • Photograph your art work without mat or frame, and crop accordingly. Hint - try laying art on the floor and taking the photo standing over it (crop if necessary so it isn't crooked - it is better to have a sliver of missing image than a crooked entry). Photograph your piece on a cloudy day to minimize glare.
  • Enter size as unframed for KAL, framed size for 20x20
  • Once an entry has been submitted, no edits, replacements or exchanges will be accepted.
  • Use proper capitalization and spelling when entering your information and double check that your email address is correct. Information will be displayed as entered. That includes artist names, titles and mediums.
  • Files should be .JPEG/.JPG, in RGB color mode (not CMYK)
  • File size maximum is not to exceed 5 MB
  • Zipped files and web based files (like .gdoc) are not accepted
  • Please avoid using punctuation in entry titles (ex: use My Entry Title – not “My Entry Title”)
  • Format for JPEG file name: LastnameTitleMediumSize.jpg

Sold Artwork: Sold artwork money will be collected by the Brighton Art Guild, along with sales tax for the State of Michigan.   Payments to the artists for their sold work will be mailed to them minus a 20% commission received by the Brighton Art Guild. Please allow time for the monies to be reconciled.
