As long as she can remember, Cheryl has thought of herself as an artist and, although it has sometimes been challenging, she has strived to stay connected to that part of her. The creative process has been an integral part her life while life experiences have influenced her art. Earning a BFA from Eastern Michigan University followed by a Master of Science Degree, she has held a number of art-related positions – graphic designer, gallery manager, art instructor, muralist, set designer, architectural historian. While her art can be described as eclectic, it shares common themes. Chidester’s work is often inspired by nature and her travels and employs textures, light and color to convey her impression of a subject matter, place or culture. She works in a variety of media and frequently combines techniques and media, exploring where it will lead to in the creation process and in the finished piece. Inspirecreationart, com
I’ve always been intrigued to explore the “deeper meaning of life”.
An inquisitive and lifelong journey which has taken me from college studies; to the more esoteric worlds of spiritual development and connecting to divine inspiration.
My artwork is about awakening consciousness through beauty and grace to open to the channeled expressions of my soul. As a result, painting fills my body, mind, and soul with blissful life force energy which is expressed on canvas, where healing and art are bound together. Creating divinely inspired techniques such as: “Fire Painting”, “Intuitive Abstracts”, “Intuitive Healing Canvas Art and Murals”.
I attended Monmouth College in Illinois, where I studied Art and Biology to focus on scientific illustration. Upon graduating in 1984 the mural world beckoned me, and I began a more self-taught artistic journey. Mixed media: acrylics, oils, inks, pastel chalks, fire and found objects may be woven into my art.
