OPEN STUDIOS: Visit Where Livingston Artists Work

The next Open Studios tour is scheduled for Spring 2012.

About Open Studios

This self-guided tour takes visitors into the private studios of artists who reside in and/or are actively part of the Livingston County community of artists.

In 2011, the Guild Board voted to hold the Open Studios tour every other year, beginning in 2012. The tour will include artists throughout the Livingston County area.

All proceeds from Open Studios ticket sales are given back to the community in support of area schools, community outreach projects and the Brighton Art Guild's annual High School Scholarship for the Visual Arts.

Background

This tour originated in the fall of 2005 as a Pinckney studio crawl, organized by RAAP (Run Away with the Arts in Pinckney (RAAP). In 2007, the Brighton Art Guild combined efforts with RAAP to host the event, which was moved to the spring and re-named as "Open Studios: Visit Where Livingston County Artists Work." In 2007 and 2008 the tour included 18 artists throughout the Livingston County area. In 2009 the tour focused on 10 artists in and around southern Livingston County. Then in 2010, the tour focused on 10 artists in and around northern Livingston County.

Call to Artists

Check back here this summer for a prospectus if you're interested in opening your studio to the public as part of the 2012 Open Studios tour. If you want to learn more about the event, please call Carole Skog at 810-229-2132, or e-mail Carole at cl.skog@yahoo.com.

Volunteer

Your help is greatly appreciated to ensure a successful event. Volunteers help with pre-event coordination of artists info, passing out flyers and signs, assisting on the event day, offering to help shuttle visitors (if you have a chauffeur's license), and collecting materials from each studio at the end of the day. If you are interested in helping, please call Carole Skog at 810-229-2132, or e-mail Carole at caroleskog@yahoo.com.
