The Brighton Art Guild is pleased to announce a call for applications for the 2011 Norma Gray Scholarship. The Longfield Family Charitable Foundation has generously sponosored this annual scholarship in honor of founding member, Norma Gray's passion and dedication to supporting the creative development of Michigan artists. The scholarship is competitively awarded based upon an applicant's merit and goals in the visual arts. There is no cost to apply.

Eligibility
All college students ages 17-25 who are (or parents are) residents of the state of Michigan are eligible. The scholarship recipient from the previous calendar year will not be considered.
How to Apply
1. Complete, sign and mail an application by September 28, 2011. Please print clearly and complete all of information requested. Applications can also be printed from the the link above.
2. E-mail your Artist's Goal Statement with three to five artwork samples attached as .jpg files, before midnight on September 28, 2011, to cl.skog@yahoo.com, subject line: College Scholarship.
a) At the top of the e-mail, include your name, year in college, college name and your phone number.
b) Your artist's goal statement should be at least 50 words, and should address why you make your art, how you make your art, what it's made of, what your art means to you, and what your visual art goals are for the next year.
c) Artwork samples must be attached as digital .jpg files (150 dpi, with the smallest dimension being at least 5" is suggested). Each .jpg file should be no larger than 2MB (2,000K).
d) At the end of the e-mail, list each .jpg file name. Include the title, medium and dimensions for each artwork sample (for example: JDoeArt1.jpg: "Sunset", acrylic paint on paper, 18" wide x 22" high).

Scholarship Presentation
The scholarship recipient and guest(s), are invited to attend the gala reception of the Guild's annual Art Harvest juried exhibition for the formal scholarship award presentation. The reception will be held from 6-9pm on Saturday, October 15, 2011.
The recipient is asked to bring along two to four artwork pieces to be on display that evening.
